A variable-type note is created to automate and calculate note numbering both in spreadsheets and editor objects.
In order to create it, the user needs to define a placeholder for the number, the placeholder will be two characters ## (if the variable is a one-digit number, only one character will insert #) The user should have to insert it to a cell in a spreadsheet, or an editor object.
Once the report is generated, the variable that was created will become the actual number; the order of the numbers depends on the order of the objects in the tree structure
Instructions
- Open/create spreadsheet/editor

Select “Extension” → Gravity Add-on” → “Show Variables Panel”

Select the character ##, if it is a spreadsheet select the cell that contains the character. If it is an editor, select and highlight the character
- Click on the “Variable Settings” icon (three parallel lines)

Select “Create Variable”
- Select Add/Edit Variable
- Fill in the variable “Name”

From the filter “Link Type” select “Note”
- Add a description and click ok
- Make sure that in the panel the filter selected “Note” to see the variable that was created
