Once you’ve completed building your financial statement, you can lock it to create a secure, un-editable version for enhanced reliability and confidence.
A Few Things to Know:
- Your locked statement will be cloned from your working, editable statement.
- Locking a statement is a permanent action, ensuring stability by preventing edits to dynamic figures, columns, and rows.
- You can still edit the statement name of a locked statement.
- The word “locked” will be added to the statement name unless you rename it when you run the locking feature.
Lock a Financial Statement
To lock a statement:
- Navigate to the Statements located under Tools in the navigation sidebar.
- Select the three-dot Action menu on any financial statement.
- Then, select the Lock Statement option from the menu.
- You will be asked to provide a new name for the statement. Note: The Lock Statement feature creates a copy of the original source statement to ensure the locked copy cannot be changed. It provides a snapshot in time and maintains flexibility in case the original source statement needs to be modified.
- Select the Lock Statement button to create the newly cloned and locked statement.
If you select Lock Statement, you will see the content in the locked statement view.
Pro Tip: A locked statement is displayed within the Statement Builder list, and can be found by filtering on the term ‘Yes’ in the Locked column.
Next Steps
Now that you have locked your statement, what should you do?
