Use the Correct Template
Note: Making modifications to the template, including rearranging columns or renaming column headers will result in an unsuccessful import.
- Use the radio button to select the template that corresponds with the request type. The template you download must match the type of request you are importing. For example, using the “Vehicles and Equipment” template for a “Building and Facilities Capital Improvement” will result in a failed import.
- If you have not yet created the necessary request type, use the Add a new request type form link at the bottom of the panel to create a new one.
- The best practice is to download a new template for each new import. Old or outdated templates will not work due to the frequent updates of the Capital Budgeting application. Outdated templates contain header rows that are unrecognized by the new import function and will result in a failed import.
Formatting the Template for Ease of Use
- Select the header row and wrap the text so you can read each header.
- If you have several dozen requests to import, freeze the header row. If you are using Excel, select View from the tool menu.
- Select Freeze Panes and Freeze Top Row.
Descriptive Labels
Some columns are descriptive labels and should be left blank. The following columns will always be descriptive:
- Capital Costs
- Funding Sources
- Internal Use Only
