- Enable Excel File Editing in Dropbox
- Troubleshooting
Integration Prerequisites
- You must have access to the Gravity application.
- You must receive an invitation to the shared Dropbox folder.
- A free Dropbox account is required to join and manage shared folders.
Configure Storage
Navigate to Gravity and sign in to your account. From the bottom of the left navigation menu, select the Settings button.
Within the Settings page, select the Storage tile. This will open a new browser tab directing you to the Dropbox website.
In the new browser tab, use the Log in or sign up options to connect your Dropbox account.
After signing in to Dropbox, select the Agree and sign up button to authorize the connection.
Complete the Dropbox Integration
If this is your first time logging in to Dropbox, you may be prompted to complete a brief, one-time onboarding survey.
After completing the survey, Dropbox may prompt you to install the desktop application.
Note: This step is optional. Select the Skip step button at the bottom to continue.
After completing the survey and skipping the installation, select the Home button in the top left-hand corner of the Dropbox navigation menu.
View and Join the Shared Folder
Now let's find and join our shared folder to complete the process. Select the Shared button from the left navigation menu.
Select the Join folder button on the right-hand side of the screen to accept access to the shared folder.
Once the signup or login process is complete and the shared folder has been joined, selecting the Storage module inside of Gravity will automatically open the connected Dropbox folder.
Enable Excel File Editing in Dropbox
The next step enables Excel file editing within Dropbox. Open the Data Integration Service ACFR folder.
Next, open any Excel file. If you are working on an ACFR report, navigate to the Data Integration Service ACFR folder and select the file Fund Mapping ACFR.xlsx.
Select the Open in option.
Then, select Excel for the web.
If the file opens in preview mode, select Open in, then select Excel for the web.
When prompted, select the Allow button to grant Excel access to your Dropbox files, then follow these steps to complete the one-time authorization process.
- Select Don’t ask me this again to save this preference.
- Then, select the Yes, set as default button to confirm your selection.
This authorization process is required only once and, after completion, your account will be fully configured to edit Excel files directly within Dropbox.
You can test this by double-clicking the Fund Mapping ACFR.xlsx file to open it in Edit mode.
Congratulations! You can now use the Storage module to upload, edit, and manage files! Dropbox can be used to store supporting documents related to your reporting workflows.
Troubleshooting
If you run into any issues during the process, the following troubleshooting steps may come in handy.
- If Excel opens in preview mode, ensure Excel for the web is selected.
