This article is intended for: all ClearGov users.
Use this article after: you have learned how to navigate ClearGov's Support Center and are ready to search to find specific articles.
Note: You can click on any image below to zoom in.
There are two main ways to search in the Support Center to find exactly what you need. Select each option below to navigate directly to that section of the article.
Navigate the Category Tiles
Selecting any of the category tiles from the Support Center home page will display articles for all of ClearGov’s modules and tools. Each category tile represents a solution (e.g., Plan & Track). Within that category, you can find articles for each module (e.g. Strategic Planning, Capital Project Tracking).
Let’s take a look at the ClearGov solutions and modules within them.
Budget: Capital Budgeting, Personnel Budgeting, Operational Budgeting
Plan & Track: Strategic Planning, Capital Project Tracking, Custom Plans
Report: Digital Financial Reports, Digital Budget Books, CIP Documents, Custom Documents
Engage: Transparency
Pro Tip: Articles about tools like Data, Charts, and User Management can be found under the Tools section header.
Some of the category tiles aren’t specific to a solution or module. Let’s take a look at what’s included in each of these categories.
Online Forms: Getting Started with ClearForms, Testing, Publishing, and Maintaining Forms, Financial, Troubleshooting, All About Steps, Completing, Reviewing, and Maintaining Submissions, Applicants, Its and Bits
Working with ClearGov: The Onboarding Process, Data Requests, Billing & Service Orders, Navigating Support, Training & Resources, Technology, Security
Best Practices: Government Resources, ADA Optimization, Change Management Best Practices
Product Release Notes: Release notes organized chronologically
Support Center Structure: Article Sections and Sub-sections
Select a solution category tile to view articles related to each module within that solution. Within each module section, articles are further broken down into sub-sections that correspond to steps in the Getting Started process.
Select the green header to view all of the articles in that section. Within the main section, you’ll see a structure of sub-sections that guide you to articles meant to help you with completing a specific action or following a specific step in a process.
For example, the sub-section Add Collaborators to Your Capital Project Tracker will cover Collaborator permissions, adding Collaborators, and frequently asked questions about collaborating in Capital Project Tracking.
Pro Tip: If the article font appears too small, you can zoom in on the webpage by pressing and holding the Ctrl and plus sign (+) keys (or, Option-Command-Plus if you use a Mac computer) on your keyboard, or scrolling your mouse wheel forward while holding Ctrl to zoom.
When you’re viewing an article, you’ll also see links on the left-hand side of the page to the other articles within the same section or sub-section. At the bottom of the article, you can view your recently viewed articles and related articles. Follow the breadcrumb menu at the top of the article to quickly return to the main section or sub-section.
Search for Specific Articles
To find a specific article, select the white Search ClearGov Support Articles search bar at the top of the Support Center and begin typing in your search terms.
The search algorithms will get to work, looking for indicators of the most relevant results and ranking them.
Use the following techniques to enhance your search and find exactly what you need:
- Start typing in at least 3 letters, which will populate suggested articles matching those characters
- Find multiple words: Use double quotes (") around each word to find content that contains all those words
- For example, "capital" "budget" "request" "status" retrieves content that contains all four words, in any order. Make sure you put spaces between the search words, otherwise, the search handles the text as one string.
- Note: If you use single quotes (') around a word, the single quotes are ignored. If you search for ‘capital’ ‘budget’ ‘request’ ‘status’, you'll see hits for all content that contains any of the words exactly as if you had searched without the single quotes.
- Find a phrase: Use double quotes (") around a phrase to find content that contains all the words in that phrase
- For example, "data model manager" retrieves all content that contains the words data model manager, in that order.
- Exclude results containing certain words: Use the minus operator (-) in front of the search term to find every article or post that does not include that word or phrase
- For example, capital project -contributor returns content containing the words capital project, but excludes those that contain the word contributor from the result set.
- Combine operands for advanced search: You can combine the operands above to find a very specific set of results
- For example “data model manager” -allocations returns articles that contain information about the data model manager but not allocations.
