Document Building - Enable Document Chat

This article is intended for: Editors in a Document who want to use and evaluate the Document LLM chat in the web-view and evaluate the Document Chat Insights. 

Use this article for: Enabling and utilizing the Document Chat functionality.

Enable the Document Chat

Would you like to allow users to search through your document? Would you like to view and manage the analytics from that data and see what questions your citizens are asking? 

How to turn on Document Chat

Document Chat is off by default in all existing Documents.

To enable the Document Chat and Insights, you will follow the following steps:

  1. Navigate to your Document, such as your Budget Book, Strategic Plan, CIP book, etc. 
  2. Navigate to Settings and then to Public Website Presentation.
  3. Toggle on Document Chat.
  4. You can give your AI chat agent a customized name and color for its responses.

How to use the Document Chat

You can test out your own Document Chat. Once it’s toggled on, simply open the URL of your budget book. Ensure that the budget book is toggled on “visible to public.”

  1. Open the Document in the Web-view format. 
  2. Locate the Chat feature in the bottom-left. 
  3. Ask it any question you want, and it will use LLM to scan the contents of the document and provide you with a response.

Note: The Document Chat model will not answer any questions that are not relevant to the Document. For example, if you ask it who won the Super Bowl, it would respond that the question is outside of the scope of the budget book. 

Document Chat Insights 

Easily view and analyze the data that is collected by users asking questions to your document chat. 

  1. Navigate to the View all Documents tab. 
  2. Toggle to the Document Chat Insights tab at the top of the page. 
  3. The Document Chat insights provide data analytics with theme and sentiment analysis.

Interaction Log 

Scroll down to the Interaction Log to review all answered questions. Select "View Log" to see additional details about each interaction. Topic Themes are identified by grouping similar interactions and key themes.
