Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Why update pivot views in MDFM rather than inside individual report tables?
A: Updating a pivot view within MDFM updates every report table linked to that data model simultaneously. Editing directly inside a report table only affects that single local view.
Q: Should the "From Period" be locked during the MDFM roll forward?
A: Yes, locking the prior period is best practice to protect finalized prior-year figures if new data is uploaded later. If unmapped accounts arise, the period can be temporarily unlocked, mapped, and re-locked.
Q: Why would I want to roll forward adjustments?
A: If you have adjustments you know you may make year-over-year this could save you some time; however, typically we recommend starting fresh with any adjustments in the new year.
