This guide outlines the complete roll-forward process for MDFM and Report administrators to transition data and report into the next fiscal year or period.
Step 1: Create a New Fiscal Period and New Funds
There are two key areas to review as you prepare to roll forward from one fiscal year to the next:
- Fiscal Period: Make sure the new fiscal year or fiscal period (for quarterly and monthly reporting) has been added in MDFM. If it hasn’t, add it before you continue.
- New Funds: If you added any new funds to your Chart of Accounts, make sure the corresponding Shared Rules and Dimensions are added before uploading your data so the new funds map correctly.

Step 3: Roll Forward the MDFM & Update Pivot Views
Roll forward the MDFM to map the next fiscal year’s data. After the roll forward process, update the Pivot Views for each statement type to create the space for your new data in the tables.

Step 4: Create a Copy of the Report and Roll Forward the Report
The roll forward process for a report will overwrite the existing report, so to ensure you maintain last fiscal year’s version, copy your report. Once you’ve copied the report, head to settings to complete the Roll Forward process to set your report up for the next fiscal year.
