Engagement Website - Timeline Settings

Understanding Timelines

Timelines are a powerful way to keep site visitors informed about your project’s progress. By displaying both past and future milestones alongside important events, you provide a clear roadmap for your community. Typically, a single timeline with multiple events is all you need to keep everyone updated!

Create a New Timeline 

  1. In the navigation sidebar, navigate to the Content & Design tab and select Timeline.
  2. Select the +New Timeline button to get started.
  3. Give your timeline a descriptive name and select Create.

Add Events

With your timeline ready, you can easily add, edit, or remove events. To create an event, select the Add Event button and complete the fields below. (Remember: the Event Name and Start Date are required).

  • Event Name: Enter a clear title for the event.
  • Description: Share helpful details about what the event involves.
  • Start Date and Time: Set the timing, with the option to Add End Time if needed. Simply select the hour and drag the clock hand to the correct minute.
  • Optional Display Date & Time: Use this field if you want to customize how the date and time appear to visitors, overriding the default start settings.
  • Event Icon: Choose a visual icon to make the event stand out on your timeline.
  • Attachments: Upload images or documents to provide visitors with more context.

Publish and Preview

  1. Navigate to the Design tab.
  2. From the Current Page dropdown, select where you want your timeline to appear. Note that we’ve provided a dedicated Updates & Timelines page for your convenience!
  3. Select the +Add Widget button and select the Timeline module.
  4. Select your preferred timeline and select Save.
  5. Ready to go? Select Publish Changes to make the timeline live on your website.

Pro-Tip: You can add multiple timelines and see exactly how they look before publishing by clicking View Project Site.
