- Choose Which Years Residents Can See
- Choose Which Figures Show for Each Year
- Choose Whether the Checkbook Page Appears
- Check What Residents See
- Troubleshooting
To change how the Revenue and Expenditures widget displays, see Financial Engagement - Transparency Settings: Financial Data.
Open Transparency Settings
Transparency settings are included with Financial Engagement and apply to your whole site. The Years and Pages tiles sit next to the Financial Data tile.
- Log in to ClearGov.
- In the left navigation, select Engage, then select Transparency.
- Select the Years tile or the Pages tile.
Note: Because you are signed in as an admin, you see everything on your site. After you change a setting, check your site in a private or incognito window to see what residents see.
Choose Which Years Residents Can See
The Years screen lists every fiscal year in its own row. Use the Available to Public toggle to hide a year that is incomplete, still under review, or no longer relevant.
Hide a Year From Residents
- Open the Years tile as described above.
- Find the year you want to hide.
- Turn the Available to Public toggle for that year to NO.
- Refresh your public site and confirm the year no longer appears in the widget.
Bring a Year Back
Turn the year's Available to Public toggle back to YES and refresh your public site. Each year has its own toggle, so you can hide as many years as you need.
Note: You do not need to publish your site or edit the widget. Changes appear as soon as you refresh the public page.
Choose Which Figures Show for Each Year
Each year's row also has columns for the type of figures residents see.
| Column | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Available to Public | Whether the year appears on your public site at all. |
| Show Actual Figures | Whether actual figures display for that year. |
| Show Budgeted Figures | Whether budgeted figures display for that year. |
| Default Finances for Figures | Choose Actual or Budgeted as the figures residents see first for that year. |
Change the Figures for a Year
- Open the Years tile.
- Find the year you want to change.
- Use Show Actual Figures and Show Budgeted Figures to turn each type on or off for that year.
- Under Default Finances for Figures, select Actual or Budgeted for the figures residents see first.
- Refresh your public site and confirm the change.
Note: An option is grayed out when that year has no version of that type in the Financials tool. This can happen to Actual or Budgeted for any year. To make a grayed-out option available, add that version in the Financials tool. See Financial Engagement FAQ: How do I update Financial Data?
Choose Whether the Checkbook Page Appears
The Pages tile controls which pages and sections appear on your public site. You can use it to show or hide the Checkbook page.
- Open the Pages tile as described above.
- Turn the Checkbook toggle off to hide the page, or on to show it.
- Refresh your public site and confirm the change.
Note: This works together with Show Check Detail in Financial Data settings. Show Check Detail controls whether the Checkbook widget is available under Add Widget, and the Pages toggle controls the Checkbook page. See Financial Engagement - Transparency Settings: Financial Data.
Check What Residents See
- Open a private or incognito browser window. Do not sign in.
- Go to your site and find your Revenue and Expenditures widget or your Checkbook page.
- Confirm the years, figures, or page match what you chose.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Likely cause and fix |
|---|---|
| A year I hid still shows. | Refresh the public page and check in a private or incognito window. Confirm the Available to Public toggle for that year is set to NO. |
| An Actual or Budgeted option is grayed out for a year. | That year has no version of that type in the Financials tool. Add the version, and the option becomes available. |
| The Checkbook page still appears after I turned it off. | Refresh your public page. Check that you turned off the Checkbook toggle under Pages, not only Show Check Detail. |
| I do not see Transparency in my navigation. | Contact Support or your Client Success Manager. |
