Global Chart Configurations, found in the Digital Budget Book Settings, are your powerful tool for ensuring uniformity and consistency across all charts by allowing you to apply updates globally from one central location. This saves you time and keeps your data presentation professional.
Chart Configurations
Note: Saving changes in Chart Configurations will instantly update the Universal Settings for all Financial Pages. If you have previously made custom updates to individual pages, they will remain untouched only if they are detached from Universal Settings. You can still update Universal Settings, but remember that any new changes made here will override those previous universal settings.
- Select the Settings button in the upper right corner of the Digital Budget Book.
- Select the Chart Configurations section.
In the Global Chart Configurations settings, there are five main sub-tabs. Select the link below to jump directly to that section of the article.
Colors
In the Colors tab, you can control the colors that make up sections of your charts. Select a color to change it by using the color picker, or entering a color hex code.
Keep Original Chart Colors - this setting toggle refers to custom charts built in the Charts Tool that you’ve included in your document. Toggle on if you wish to use the color selection you made in the Charts Tool.
Pro-tip: For easier visualization of how color categories map to your chart sections, open ClearGov in two browser tabs by right-clicking your current tab and choosing Duplicate tab. Display a Financial Page chart in the first tab. In the second tab, modify the Chart settings and save your updates as you progress. Refresh the Financial Page tab to view your changes immediately.
Select Save Settings to confirm any changes made.
Historical Financial Charts
Use the Historical Financial Charts settings to customize the display of financial data in your document. Pick the fiscal years you want to view and choose between actual figures, budgeted figures, or both for your historical financial charts.
See an example of historical financial charts in this article.
In the Historical Financial Charts settings you can do the following:
- Choose to display figures for past and future fiscal years within your budget book. The years will display in auto-generated multi-year charts found on your financial pages. By selecting specific fiscal years, you can focus on the most relevant periods.
- Choose which versions of the budget to display for each year including versions from onboarded data, or saved versions from your Operational Budget.
-
Decide whether you want to see actual or budgeted figures on your summary charts and revenue/expense comparisons.
-
Note: If the drop-down menu for budgeted figures or actual figures is greyed out and you cannot select it for a given year, it may be for one of these reasons:
- The budget book is using the version selected in the book's Data Sources for that specific version type and year.
- Data of that type and year has not yet been uploaded into the Data Financials Tool.
- A new budget version has not yet been saved in your Operational Budget.
-
Note: If the drop-down menu for budgeted figures or actual figures is greyed out and you cannot select it for a given year, it may be for one of these reasons:
- Select Save Changes to confirm any changes made.
