Generate a PDF of your Legacy Digital Budget Book
Use this article to learn how. You can use this for two different purposes:
- Evaluating your Budget Book for the GFOA award using our Budget Book Evaluator to see where you can improve this year.
- We will bring over many of your narrative pieces, but if needed, you can importing pages from the PDF into your new Budget Book.
4 Steps to Carry Forward Your Legacy Digital Budget Book to the New Editor
Step 1: Create a New Digital Budget Book and Carry Forward Narratives from Legacy
Creating a new budget book doesn’t have to mean starting from scratch. With the Carry Forward tool, you can quickly bring over narrative content like text, images, and custom charts from a budget book previously created in the legacy module to jumpstart your work in our new editor.

Step 2: Add Any Additional Narrative
We should have given you the majority of your budget book from the Carry Forward process, but if something is missing, you can use the Document Import tool to add pages of content, Import from Word to add content directly into a text box on a page or good ol' copy/paste to get your narrative pieces in.

Step 3: Add in Your Financials
Create your new Fund, Department or any other Financial Pages you need based on your data. Once you create them, use Financial Page Settings and other Digital Budget Book Settings to help tailor them to your optimal data presentation.

Step 4: Note What Needs to Be Edited and Collaborate!
Utilize our Collaboration tools including Page Statuses, Block Statuses, Comments and Page Assignments to tackle any edits or changes you want to make for this budget year. Many hands make light work!

Pro-Tips:
- Use two monitors when working on your Budget Book. You can have the editor up on your main screen and reference your legacy book or the preview of your new book as reference to what changes you need to make (legacy) and how those changes are taking shape (preview).
