Data Dimensions and Versions are important to understand in Budget Book because they directly determine the data that displays on your Financial pages. Financial Pages are a key highlight of the budget book because they contain auto-generated charts, graphics, and tables based directly on your data dimensions and versions in ClearGov.

5 Steps to Creating and Editing Financial Pages

Step 1: Add Financial Pages

Now that you have created your budget book, it’s time to add dynamic financial pages. Financial pages pull together either the data you have onboarded or entered in the Operational Budgeting module to present charts and tables that illustrate your budget clearly. 

Financial Pages must be created to assess, view, and edit charts, financial schedule tables, and more.

Step 2: Review Your Financial Pages

After your Financial Pages have been added to your Budget Book, you can review the auto-generated blocks and their corresponding financial data.

Step 3: Edit Your Financial Pages Using Universal Settings

Upon creation of Financial Pages, summary and dimension-based content block sections are automatically generated using your Chart of Accounts. Every dimension-based content block section features three primary elements: a multi-year chart, a single-year chart, and a financial schedule table. To help you tailor the detail level for your organization, sections and content blocks can be easily hidden, and charts and tables fully customized.

It is recommended to make changes to your financial pages in bulk. This will standardize your financial pages and streamline your time management for customizing your financial pages.  

Pro-tip: For easier visualization of how specific settings impact how content displays, open ClearGov in two browser tabs by right-clicking your current tab and choosing Duplicate tab. Display a Financial Page in the first tab. In the second tab, modify settings and save your changes as you progress. Refresh the Financial Page tab to view your changes immediately.

Step 4: Edit Your Financial Charts

Each financial dimension content block section contains auto-generated multi-year and single-year charts. Charts can be customized in the document’s Settings menu.

Step 5: Add Narratives to Your Financial Pages

Once your Financial Pages have been created and your Financial Schedule Tables and Charts have been customized to meet your organization’s needs, the last step to telling your financial story is adding narrative to your pages.
