The purpose of a Capital Project Tracker is to help organizations effectively manage, track, and communicate the progress and financials of capital improvement projects, such as new buildings, infrastructure upgrades, or major equipment purchases, from budget approval to execution and completion. This article discusses how to create one that aligns execution with budget and boosts transparency.
Select + Create button on the Capital Project Tracking application to get started!
Step 1 - Capital Project Manager Details
- Enter a Name for this Tracker. The Name can be changed at any time in Tracker Settings.
- Select the Start Year. End Year is not required, but allows you to have a multi-year Tracker.
- Enter a Description, this field is optional and can be changed at any time in Tracker Settings.
Select Next: Add Projects to continue.
Step 2: Add Projects
Note: This step appears only if you have a Capital Budgeting subscription; otherwise, the tracker is created automatically.
In Step 2, choose to either sync with Capital Budgeting or add projects manually.

Selecting the option to Sync with Capital Budgeting opens a guided “Sync with Capital Budgeting” four step process to help you choose and organize your projects.

Selecting Add Projects Later will also complete the tracker setup. You can add or edit projects at any time after creation.
